High Five for Friday

TGIF and happy Black Friday!!!!!  I'm unusually late posting because I stayed out until 3 a.m. shopping and just rolled out of bed.  Anyways, let's recap the week:

1.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family.  It's so nice to be able to see everyone and enjoy their company (and good food)!  I have so much to be thankful for, and praise God for his blessings.
This was Kane's 1st year actually getting to eat, as he was just shy of being 6 months old last year and hadn't yet started baby food even.  He loves to eat, and yesterday was no different.

2. BLACK WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY SHOPPING FOR THE WIN!  I started my shopping on Wednesday this year.  I love that stores are starting their online sales earlier in the week now because you don't have to rush as much, trying to hit up all of the websites at the same time.  I knocked out my shopping at Kohl's on Wednesday, then I did Old Navy and J. Crew online yesterday morning.  In the evening, I did Victoria's Secret, JCP, and Amazon online.  I had planned on hitting up Walmart online but they started their sale super early yesterday morning and I missed out--that never happens.   So Della and I decided to head to Bath & Body Works and stop at Walmart as well. By the time we got to Walmart, we figured everything would be sold out (because we went well after the event times) but we ended up getting everything we were looking for except 1 item!!! You can take a peek at our shopping list here.

We just grabbed 1 buggy and went!  Surprisingly, it didn't take too much sorting at checkout.

3. I had the week off of work as I had some vacation days to use or lose.  All day Monday was spent working on a SWOT analysis paper for my capstone course. . .UGH!  I was also able to read Sarah MacLean's new book, Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover, which finished up Rules of Scoundrels series.  It was absolutely amazing!  If you love a good historical romance, put her at the top of your TBR list! Kane and stayed home part of each day with me, and I loved having some extra time with him!

4. Speaking of Black Friday, one of my favorite Etsy shops, SewSarahR, is having an awesome Black Friday Special!  You can purchase the clutch below (reg. $35) with these Purple Peridot (another of my favorite websites to shop) earrings (reg. $13.99) for only $32.50!  Or you can use code BLACKFRIDAY14 to get 25% off all other clutches!

Photo Credit: SewSarahR (the link will take you to her blog--check it out too!)

5. Monday night was Parents' Night Out at daycare.  PNO is where the daycare is open for 2 hours one evening at no additional cost.  Chauncey and I used the time to go out to a nice dinner at Malone's.  It was so yummy, and we got the coconut creme pie for dessert to top it off!  We also lingered over dinner, just talking about all sorts of things:) If you're ever in Lex, Malone's is the place you need to eat!  Parents need to take some time for themselves every once in a while.

Black Friday Shopping List

We've already established my love of Black Friday (you can read my Black Friday Survival Guide here for advice on how to shop BF like a pro).  Now I'm linking up with my friend Della from Della Devoted to show you some of what we're planning to purchase during the sale.  Some stores have already started their deals, like Vera Bradley and Kohl's, and I highly recommend you check out both.

Anyways, here's a preview of what I'll be shopping for at Bath & Body Works and Old Navy, as well as some of the toys I'll be purchasing for Kane.

Bath & Body Works
I've always had awesome success at B&BW.  They usually have Buy 3, Get 3 free on their signature body care,  2-packs of Wallflowers for $5, the $20 VIP bag, and the ability to stack coupons (in-store only).  I was told by a store associate that their Black Friday information should be emailed tonight, so I will update this post as soon as I know exactly what deals they'll be running this year.  I love this year's VIP bag, and I hope it's the same price as usual!!!

UPDATE: The entire store will be mix & match buy 3, get 3 free!

Bath & Body Works Black Friday

Old Navy
Old Navy is an all-around family favorite.  Here are some of the items I have my eye on.  Old Navy currently has 30% off their entire store/website today with code EARLYBIRD, but I'm holding out for tomorrow and Friday's deals, which are better.  The entire store will be 50% off, and the website will be up to 50% off.  You can see the deals here, and they start online at midnight!

Old Navy Black Friday for Family

Toys for 18 months +
I'm really looking forward to Kane opening gifts this year, because I think he will REALLY enjoy ripping the paper!  Here are some of the items I'll be purchasing for him.  I actually already purchased the Little People Fun Sounds Farm--it's on sale for $29.99 on Amazon, which is $10 less than it is elsewhere.  The VTech Go! Go! set will be $25 at Walmart, and the cars that accompany it will be $5 each starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday.  Everything else is from Kohl's--they are having excellent deals on most all of their toys, so I suggest that mommies take a good look there!

Fun Office Wear : Touch of Burgundy

I'm linking up again with my friend Leeanne from LegalLee Blonde.  Lee and I connected on Instagram because we're both lawyers with a love of fashion.  Today, we're teaming together to showcase Fun Office Wear, featuring a touch of burgundy.  Just because you work in an office does not mean that you have to dress boring.  Professional work wear can be just as fun as dressing up to go out--it's all in how you put your outfit together! Don't forget to head over LegalLee Blonde to check out Lee's outfit!

Burgundy is the color of the season, and Lee and I have paired touches of it with black and white outfits for the perfect pop of color.  For my outfit, I chose my houndstooth dress that I scored at on sale from Bluetique Cheap Chic for just $5!!!  I love houndstooth, so I doubled-up the pattern play with a longer peacoat my mom got me when I was still in undergrad.

Coat: old (similar, $24.99)
It was a downpour in Lex.  I tried taking outdoor shots, but finally had to throw in the
towel and take indoor shots:(
My dress is sleeveless, so I just popped a long-sleeved tissue tee underneath and added some patterned tights to instantly transition it to fall. Oh, and my favorite boots from Target!

Dress: No longer available (similar, $49.95; similar, $44.50)
Tissue tee: Maurices, $5 (similar, approx. $10).
Tights: Walmart (similar, $4)
Boots: Target, $31 (currently $39.99 + BOGO 50% off)
And my favorite part of the dress--this burgundy bow on the back!  Which has been likened to a cape, but in case you didn't get the memo, I can be Super Woman when necessary.  Thus, totally appropriate:)

This necklace is very special to me.  My Mamaw gave this necklace to me, so I always think of her when I wear it.  And my earrings were $2.98 at Walmart.  If you haven't checked out Walmart's updated jewelry section, you need to!  The bag is a nylon Kate Spade outlet bag that I purchased off of Ebay when I was in law school.  It's a great size, and fits my laptop (a Macbook Air) in it.

Earrings: Walmart, $3 (in store)
Necklace: old
Bracelet: Style This Life, $7.
Purse: Kate Spade Outlet (similar, $29.99; and similar, $49.99 at Target, and each eligible for the BOGO 50% off deal
with the boots!!!)

Don't forget to click over to LegalLee Blonde to gets the deets on Lee's outfit.  And, in case you missed our 1st collaboration with the Instafamous blanket scarf, you can catch up on that here.

How do you keep your outfits professional but fun???  Let us know in the comments below!

High Five for Friday

TGIF!!! I hope this Friday is treating you well:)  I've been a little busy this week--my last semester is winding down, which means my homework is ramping up.  Add in a full-time job, husband, baby, and blog, and you've got a recipe for a jam-packed week.  None-the-less, it's been a good week!

1. I've been wanting the plaid smoking flats from Old Navy for a while now.  One of the awesome ladies I follow on Instagram, @looptloop, posted that they were marked down to $14!  So after debating about whether or not to wait until Black Friday to pick them up, I headed to the Old Navy by my office on my lunch break yesterday.  It turns out that they were $15 at my store, but a 20% coupon brought them down to $12.  The other 2 pairs were on clearance for $6.49 each!  Win win!

Red Plaid (tassel loafers are not available online, but the link has several other
colors available.
2. Speaking of Black Friday (which is one of my favorite days of the year)--I have put together a Black Friday Survival Guide with my tips and tricks for Black Friday shopping.  I list 5 steps to conquering Black Friday, my go-to shops, and some special tips if you're online shopping.

3. I got my hair done on Friday, and it was a much-needed refresh!  It had been at least 4 months since the last time I had my hair colored (my tips for how to do that are here).  As you can imagine, I was ready for something different.  I chose to go with an all-over color gloss to take my hair darker for winter, with a slight trim and some more layers towards the bottom of my hair.  Ginger (my hair lady) is amazing!!!

4. Kane and I spent the weekend with our family back home.  Kane had a great time, and enjoyed getting to Skype with Daddy while we were away.  OK, he also enjoyed getting his hands on Mommy's computer.  What can I say?  He's Chauncey's son. While we were home, I also got to spend time with some friends, which is always nice!

5. I had a birthday gift to purchase for a good friend, so I stopped by Versona Accessories this week. They had some amazing sales going on, so I took the time to update my own collection.  Everything pictured below was less than $30 total!

Necklaces (l to r): $5.99, $6.99, $2.99
Bracelet: $2.99
Earrings (l to r): $5.99, $1.99

Black Friday Survival Guide

This post contains affiliate links. Also, this post as been updated for 2015.
Black Friday--one of my favorite days of the year!  I have been a dedicated Black Friday shopper since undergrad. I started going with my grandparents and was hooked.  I even bought a car on Black Friday once (true story. RIP white Ford Escape).  You all know I love a good deal, and it's definitely a day to get them.  I always end up a little tired but in reasonably good spirits. Oh, and I kill it.  I usually get every deal I go after. How?  Let me show you the way.

1. Plan your shopping list and set a budget.
It's easy to get caught up in Black Friday excitement and buy things that you later wish you wouldn't have.  Make it easy for yourself by writing up a shopping list that details what you need to buy/who you need to buy for, and try to stick to the list.  Also, determine how much you're willing to spend before you start shopping and stick to it!

2. Scout out the deals in advance.
Start now.  Google the name of the stores you like with "Black Friday 201__" (<-- change the year accordingly).  Most stores have their deals floating around out there.  If you can't find the ad for this year, search for last year's ad.  Many stores have similar deals each year, like Victoria's Secret.  You know you can usually count on BOGO 50% off on bras, deals on Pink loungewear, and a free bag with goodies if you buy a certain amount of stuff.  Make notes on your shopping list about where you can find what deals.

Don't forget to check search Coupon Sherpa, even if you're shopping in-store, to see if there are any coupons out there that can provide you with extra savings!!!

3. Know what deals are wolves in sheep clothing.
Seriously.  Not everything on Black Friday is the best deal you can get this holiday season.  As soon as you make your shopping list and know what you need, start looking for those items now and compare against advertised Black Friday prices.  Some retailers are having excellent sales in the lead-up to Black Friday, while others are matching select Black Friday prices from competitors.

4. Strategize like you're a 5-star general. . .of shopping.
Don't leave home without a plan.  If you're going shopping in store, know what stores you're going to, in what order you're going to them, and what you need from where.   Also, if it's a big retailer like Walmart, check to see if they have a map of their store layout for Black Friday online.   If you're shopping online, make a list of the websites you what to hit up and what time their deals go live. This usually ranges anywhere from midnight to 3 a.m. EDT.  The key to getting in and getting out is to plan, plan, plan!  If a store already has long lines and you're with a friend, have you friend go ahead and get a place in line while you shop.  Then, you be the placeholder in line and let your friend shop!

5. Shop online.
Why fight the crowds in-store?  I usually do all of my shopping online except for one or two stores because the deals are usually the same in store.  For big retailers, they usually list in their ads if something is only available in store.  And while some stores do offer a slightly better discount if you shop in store, is it worth it by the time you pay for gas and go fight the crowd?  Probably not.

Even if you're bound and determined to get out in the crowds for the experience, shop as much as you can online, including while you're standing in long check-out lines.  That way you're killing two birds with one stone.

Black Friday Haul from B&BW 2012.  Spent $83.95.  Saved $389.30.

Here's a list of the stores I always hit up:
  • Bath & Body Works--I shop in-store because you can coupon stack!  There's a B&BWs close to my hometown that usually doesn't even have a line when it opens, so I always go there.  I usually pick up their VIP bag and use its contents as Christmas gifts.
  • JCP--I shop online.
  • Walmart--I only shop in-store if there's an in-store special I have to have.  Otherwise, I order online and avoid that mess.
  • Kohl's--I shop online, because they usually have excellent deals right before Black Friday.
  • Victoria's Secret--I shop online.  Usually, you can order later on Thanksgiving day and get their special bag early.
  • Sephora--I shop online.  They always have some excellent beauty items for $10!!!
  • Target--I shop online.  Redcard for the win!
  • Amazon--Online, of course.
  • Old Navy--Online only.  Have you seen an Old Navy store on Black Friday?
Check out my updated list for Black Friday 2015 here.

And here's a few special tips if you do decide to online shop:
  • Know what time deals go live on the websites.
  • Create accounts and log-in beforehand, to make checkout smooth and decrease the risk of something selling out before you can get checked out.
  • USE EBATES (especially since they usually have increased cash back at certain retailers for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales--check their site for details)! I use Ebates every time I shop online. It's a legitimate website that gives you cash back for your purchases from some of my favorite stores, including most of the stores listed on my Top 10 Favorite Stores for Black Friday Deals! You even get some just for signing up!  You can join now by clicking here. They'll even have special cash back deals around Black Friday and throughout the holiday shopping season. If you want to know more about Ebates first, then check out my in-depth post about why I use the website.

Ipsy November Glam Bag--Girl Meets Glitter

I'm just going to go ahead and say it--this is my favorite Ipsy bag yet!  I love the products I received this month, and the bag is just adorable!  This is the perfect holiday party kit, and is perfectly named Girl Meets Glitter.

I talked about the Ipsy and why I decided to break up with Birchbox here, but when it comes down to it, I just wasn't as excited about the products I was receiving.  Every once and a while there would be one or two products that I couldn't wait to receive, but I just felt blah about it. With Ipsy, I've received 1 blah bag and 3 really awesome bags so far, including this month's:)

What products did I receive?

1. Demeter Pixie Dust Roll On Perfume Oil
The description on the website describes this fragrance as "fruity, sugary and light as the air itself." Not only is the scent nice, but it's perfect to pack in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups (or those days when you walk out and forget to spritz some perfume).

2. L.A. Colors Chunky Lip Pencil
I'm not going to lie.  Before trying this lip pencil, I thought of L.A. Colors as an out-dated brand.  I was surprised when I tried this pencil and loved it!  Great color and soft, buttery formula.

3. TEMPTI S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl
This was my least favorite product, but that's probably because I'm hooked on the highlighter I'm currently using.  I am, however, looking forward to wearing this to some holiday parties!

4. Elizabeth Mott You're So FINE Eyeliner in Glitterati
I tried the glitter liquid eyeliner from Stila a couple of years ago and haven't tried one since.  I have sensitive eyes, and it was a disaster.  Because of that experience, I was a little apprehensive when it came to trying this product, but it turned out great. My eyes didn't itch, and it gave the perfect amount of shimmer!

5. Nicole by OPI in Guys & Galaxies (Ipsy exclusive shade)
I always like receiving nail polish in my bag, and this was no exception.  The iridescent sparkles really make this polish stand out! I think it looks great over the darker nail polish shades for fall and the upcoming holidays.  You can head over to Instagram to check out the mani I did using this shade!

This was such a fun bag, and absolutely perfect with the holiday season approaching!  What do you think about Ipsy and these products?

If you're interested in trying Ipsy, you can sign up through my referral link here

Also, be sure to check out the Scary Mommy Thanksgiving Project here--they help families in need to have a wonderful and filling Thanksgiving!

High Five for Friday

TGIF!  I'm sitting here finishing off the last of my leftover red velvet cake cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory as I type. . .it is delicious!!!  Also, it is so cold in Lexington right now.  Brrr [insert shiver]. We had our first snow flurries today, so I know it's only going to get colder.  Anyways, let's recap the week:

1.  I've been working with some of my close blogging friends this week (Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and Caitlin at Coffee with Caitlin) on something fun!  I hate that I can't share any details (yet), but while you're waiting, the girls are hosting some awesome exchanges for the holiday season! Della is hosting a Christmas Ornament Exchange, and Katie and Caitlin are hosting the 'Tis the Season Mug Swap.  I've already signed up for both, as well as the Fa-La-La-La Blog 2014 Holiday Card Swap over at The Sequin Notebook.  These are such a great way to celebrate the holidays, so go sign-up!  Who knows, you might just get me as a swap partner:)

2. Speaking of blogging friends, I also love Kat over at Lemonade Linings.  Kat and I are on the same page with a lot of things, including a new-found love for chambray!  So we teamed up to bring you a Wardrobe Re-Wear featuring our new closet staple.  If you missed it, you can catch it here, and, for the record, I love chambray + plaid!

3. I finally received my wedding and engagement rings back from Samuel's Jewelers.  They were each previously messed up when I sent them off to be repaired:(  A new jeweler took care of them this time, and they look amazing!  There's still a tweak that needs to be done to the shank on the engagement ring, but I'm going to wait until after the holidays to send them back off.  I feel naked without my ring finger bling.

4. My dear, sweet husband babysat (yes, babysat--that's what he calls it even though it's his own child...does anyone else's partner do this?haha) Kane for 7 hours on Saturday while I hit up the new outlet mall that opened up nearby--the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass.  It's almost exactly 1 hour from my house.  I really liked the layout of the outlet, and they have some fabulous stores (that were having some awesome sales)!  It just so happened to be the opening weekend for the Kate Spade outlet store--what a coincidence:)  Oh, and I may have hit up Michael Kors too.  It was a relaxing day, and I got a lot of Christmas shopping done for my entire family.

I loved the nickel color/chrome-like finish of this satchel and just couldn't walk away!
Bag: Michael Kors Outlet, $120.

5. This picture is of my outfit from yesterday, and it contains a few of my favorite things-- this necklace ($9.39 on eBay), monogrammed tee, my new nail polish, my rings (referenced above), and my HM Willow bangle that was named in honor of my mamaw for Breast Cancer Awareness month back in October.

As you may know, I'm a sponsor for Mimi's Monograms, but I absolutely love her stuff!  She has some awesome sales going on right now that make for perfect Christmas gifts:

  • Monogrammed stockings (reg. $24.99, on sale for $21.99, $18.69 w/ promo code)
  • Monogrammed quarter zip (reg. $49.99 + $10 monogram fee, on sale for $34.99 + $10 monogram fee, $29.74 + $8.50 monogram fee w/ promo code--please note that monogram must be added separately)
  • Monogrammed long-sleeved tee (reg. $26.99, $22.94 w/ promo code)
  • Monogrammed chevron bible cover (reg. $21.99, on sale for $18.99, $16.14 w/ promo code).  Use code TIF15 at checkout to receive the pricing above (prices are subject to change at any time). If you're looking for that perfect monogrammed gift, now's the time to buy!

Wardrobe Re-Wear : the Chambray Shirt

Let's be honest.  My feeling about the chambray shirt have evolved over time.  At first I hated it, because I thought it looked like a jean shirt, and I had some bad 90s flashbacks.  But the chambray shirt slowly grew on me, until I had to find the perfect one of my own.

Chambray shirts are a fun touch to an otherwise dressy look.  They make outfits a little more casual and a little off-the-cuff.  The styling possibilities are endless!  So I've teamed up with my friend Kat from Lemonade Linings to show you two ways to wear this trend. Head on over to Kat's blog to see the flip-side of this Wardrobe Re-Wear--a perfect Date Night Ready look!

 MY OUTFIT: Office Ready

I paired my chambray shirt with one of my favorite plaid pencil skirts, and added a blazer with the sleeves cuffed.

Shirt: J. Crew Factory, $21 (currently $29 TODAY ONLY + free shipping when
you use code JOKES--or you could wait for a better sale like I did.)
Skirt: No longer available (similarsimilar).
Necklace: Purple Peridot (similar).
Earrings: eBay, $4.99.
To take the outfit from the office to happy hour, just remove the blazer and head out!

Oh, and can we please talk about these boots and bag?  I snagged the boots from Target early this season, after I missed out on them last year.  And I just picked up this adorable Michael Kors satchel at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass when I did some Christmas shopping this weekend.  I think the nickel color/chrome effect is perfect for the upcoming holiday season.
Boots: Target, around $31 (currently $39.99 + BOGO 50%).
Bag; Michael Kors Outlet store, $120.
Don't forget to head over to Lemonade Linings to check out how to style your chambray for a Date Night Ready look!  And, like any bloggers I link up with, if you're not ready Kat's blog on the regular, you should be:)

You can also check out the last Wardrobe Re-Wear featuring the Blanket Scarf!

If you're loving these outfit ideas, be sure to follow me on Instagram (@brightonabudget).  I frequently post #ootd/#wiw, and pass along good deals as soon as I see them!  I hope these posts give you some ideas about how to shop your own closet and match-up clothes you never thought of pairing together!

What's your favorite way to style a chambray shirt?  Let us know in the comments!

Fall Beauty Must-Haves

Here's some of my favorite beauty picks for fall, but let's be honest--they can work all year round. These products are just some of the ones I've tried recently and really liked!

1.  Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, $6.49.  Once again, I ran-out of my currently product and needed to try something new.  This replaces my Mary Kay make-up remover, and will probably continue to do so.

2. Sephora Perfecting Eye Primer, $14.  I picked up this stuff to try out because it is much cheaper than the MAC product I was using.  I've been very satisfied with this substitute!

3.  Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette, $29.  I finally had to try out this cult favorite, and I'm a huge fan of the colors in this palette.  I do wish, however, that there was a little more color-payoff with the 2 lightest shades.

4.  Benefit Boi-ing Industrial-Strength Concealer, $20 (I scored this super cheap with a coupon + Birchbox points!).

5.  Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio in Sweet, $21.  Here, you have your blush, bronzer, and highlighter all-in-one!  It's affordable and compact for those of us who do our makeup on the go.

6.  Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes, $29.  You can read my review here, and be sure to enter the giveaway while you're at it!

7.  No. 7 Beautiful Eyebrow Pencil in Brown, $6.99.  My eyebrow pencil recently ran-out, and I was looking to try something new.  Enter a quick trip to Target, and there you have it!  The color is great and it has a spoolie on the end to help naturalize your penciled-in brows.

8.  OPI Nail Lacquer in Just Beclaus, $9.50 (currently part of a promotion at Ulta, but I picked it up for less than $5 last week by using points + coupon).  This color is perfect for fall + the holiday season!!!

I didn't include any lip items, because I just did a post on my favorite lip products for fall--you can catch that here in case you missed it.

Have you stumbled across any good beauty finds lately?  If so, let me know in the comments below!

High Five for Friday

TGIF!  It has been a fabulous week, my friends!  I turned 28 (and voted!) on Tuesday, and was shown lots of love from all-around!!!  My mom and mother-in-law were down for the weekend, too, which was great.  Let's recap:

1. On Friday, Kane went Trick-or-Treating door-to-door for the 1st time ever, and he loved it!!!  He especially liked carrying around his candy bag.

The tail gets me everytime!
2. I SAW GARTH BROOKS AND TRISHA YEARWOOD LIVE!!!  They were phenomenal.  It was one of the best concerts I've been to!  Garth sang all of his classics, including my personal favorites--Two Pina Coladas, Friends in Low Place, Thunder Rolls, That Summer, and Papa Loved Mama. Trisha nailed How Do I Live, but I really wish she would have sang I Would've Loved You Anyway. Oh, and our seats?  Simply amazing!
That would be Mr. Brooks himself in the cowboy hat behind us!
3. Chauncey and I, along with some of our friends, hit up the UK v. UPIKE game on Sunday (excellent seats once again).  I also went to the Alumni Reception beforehand.  It was nice to catch-up with some people I hadn't seen for a while.

4. On my actual birthday, we had planned on going to the Cheesecake Factory.  A toddler and a 2.5+ hour wait don't mix though, so we headed to Joe B's.  Joe B's is one of my favorite restaurants, and they didn't disappoint!  I even got free cheesecake for dessert;)

Wardrobe Re-Wear: Blanket Scarf

As someone who loves fashion, I love Instagram.  It's one of my top places to scout out trends that I want to try.  Hence, the beginning of my love affair with the blanket scarf.  Everybody has been getting their hands on these, and I had to have one, but was unwilling to pay $25-35.  Luckily, one of my IG friends tipped me off about them on eBay for $12.99 (here it is for $11.99)!

Anyways, blanket scarves are so versatile--you can dress them up or dress them down, a
nd wear them with a variety of different outfits!  My friend, Lee, who blogs over at Legalee Blonde, also loves the blanket scarf, so we decided to team up to bring you a Wardrobe Re-Wear featuring it!  I'm styling the blanket scarf as a shawl, below, and Lee is styling it as it was meant to be worn.  Head on over to her blog to see her full outfit and get the details!

Tunic: Maurices, $5.50 (no longer available)
Leopard Tassel Necklace: Purple Peridot, approx. $15 (similar, $12.99)
Ponte Pants: Joe Fresh from JCP, $15 with coupon
Shoes: DSW (similar, $14.99)
I paired my blanket scarf with a burgundy tunic and ponte pants.  Burgundy is a great color for the fall, and ponte pants are a must-have (thanks, Katie, for raving about them)!  Ponte pants are like leggings, but thicker.  They hold you in better and keep you warmer. Win-win in my book.  To use my blanket scarf as a shawl,  I simply folded it in half (into a triangle) and wrapped it around my shoulders.

I'm staring at my phone because I was using the remote viewfinder to take my own pics for the very 1st time!  Chalking it up as a success!
To get that comfortable, yet put-together look, I paid attention to details.  The tassel necklace is a perfect way to fill the space in-between the sides of the scarf.  And leopard + plaid is one of the biggest trends of the season, so the shoes didn't take a lot of thought.

Now that you see how I styled mine, head on over to Lee's blog, Legalee Blonde, to see how she styled hers--so on trend!

What's your thoughts on the blanket scarf?  Perfect or too big?  Will you be sporting one this winter???
