High Five for Friday 11.27.15 : Thankfulness and Black Friday

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Caitlin at Coffee with CaitlinDella at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!!!

This post comes with a warning.  It is 3:32 a.m. on Black Friday and I just made it home not too long ago from shopping with Della.  I am tired, so if this post doesn't make sense, please forgive me. . .I'm sleep deprived but at least I got some good deals!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I have so many blessings for which to be thankful. Here at H54F, one of the things we're thankful for is our H54F blogging community!!!  Instead of picking just one featured blogger, we want you to know that we're thankful for each and every one of you!

Now let's recap this week's highlights, which are all things I am thankful for:

1. Thanksgiving with my family was awesome.  It was sad because it was the first year without my aunt Sis here, but at the same time, I'm very thankful for all of my family that I am blessed to still have with me.  Most of my family ended up at my mom's house.  The food was delicious and the company was great.  Then we headed over to my mother-in-law's, and the same can be said for there.

2. After Thanksgiving dinner, I took Kane to watch the Good Dinosaur at the movie theater where my brother works.  They had fun crafts before the movie.  The movie itself was adorable, and I highly recommend it.

Black Friday Shopping List : Target Style

This post contains affiliate links.
Shoppers everywhere rejoice--Black Friday is upon us!!!  This week, I'm going to be sharing some Black Friday shopping lists and tips to help make your Black Friday successful.  Let's kick it off with a Target Style shopping list.

Target's doors open at 6 p.m. on Thursday night to kick off Black Friday.  These sales will be online as well, but I didn't see a time for when they would go live.  All clothes and accessories will be 40% off regular prices, as will women's boots (some exclusions apply, please see Target's website for details).  I've tossed in a couple of extra shoes that aren't listed as being on sale, but they'll complete these holiday outfit pieces perfectly!

To shop, just click on the image below.  You can go ahead and add any of these to your cart on Target's website so that you're ready to check out as soon as the sale prices hit. Also, sorry for the smaller image size. The widget I used refuses to size any bigger without messing up placement.

In case you didn't notice, each row below is a different holiday outfit! For Row 3, you can wear either the jeans in Row 2 or the faux leather leggings in Row 4. Which brings me to my next point--all of these outfit pieces are very interchangeable, and this makes a mini capsule wardrobe:)

As I was compiling this post, I noticed that Target already had some sweaters priced at 40% off regular price, in case you want to get a jump start on savings. Della from Della Devoted is sharing some of her picks for Target's Black Friday sale too, which you can check out here.

One Black Friday tip that will apply for many online retailers is to remember to use Ebates! I use Ebates every time I shop online. It's a legitimate website that gives you cash back for your purchases from some of my favorite stores, including Target and Old Navy. You even get some just for signing up!  You can join now by clicking here. They'll even have special cash back deals around Black Friday and throughout the holiday shopping season. If you want to know more about Ebates first, then check out my in-depth post about why I use the website.

High Five for Friday 11.20.15 : Sweaters + Snoopy

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Caitlin at Coffee with CaitlinDella at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!!!

This week's featured bloggers are Jess and Katie from Sweet Little Ones.  Sweet Little Ones is an inspiring lifestyle blog that revolves around their lives as sisters, moms, wives, and friends.  They also co-host Tuesday Talk, a weekly linkup that you should be hitting up if you aren't already:)  I've followed along their stories of pregnancy, infertility, and adoption, and I love their recent post about the most important mission.

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. I spent the weekend back home in eastern Kentucky.  There's just something so relaxing about being on some back country roads. So Saturday night I went out with my family for a delayed birthday celebration.  We ate at Pizza Stop and it was DELICIOUS!

2.  Della and I took the boys to see the Peanuts movie on Sunday.  You may not know this about me, but I'm a big Peanuts fan.  The movie was everything I hoped for!  Kane flipped the lights on in the theater at one point (oops) and Raylan may have been a little fussy at times, but it went fairly well otherwise.haha

3. Della and I also shot some blog pics up my one of the offices that I work out of some times.  My company's office is situated on top of a hill with some spectacular views.  Many days, you can even see elk roaming along the roads.  I'm not sad to say that thankfully none wandered up to us while we were taking pics.  I shot 2 outfits that are stylish, cozy, and comfortable to get you through Thanksgiving dinners!  You can see the sweater + leggings look here, and the sweater dress look here.

4a. I finally watched the Longest Ride, and I highly recommend it!  Even Chauncey liked the ending. This may be the only Nicholas Sparks movie I've actually liked since the Notebook.  Definitely worth the rental fee I charged to Chauncey's iTunes account to watch it.haha

4b. Kentucky beat Duke (sorry, Katie)!  My tee is from Kentucky Brewed Tees.  You can head over and shop their website now (and since I'm a brand rep, you can use BRIGHT for 10% off) or stop by Market 301 in Lexington this weekend.  I plan on being there on Saturday, so if you see me, come say hi!

5. Our good friends came over to hangout on Wednesday night with their son.  There's about 13 months age difference between he and Kane, but they played really well together.  We also ordered some pizza and just chatted.  That's my kind of night.

Thanksgiving Day Outfit : Holiday Sweater and Leggings

This post contains affiliate links.
This week, I'm talking about Thanksgiving Day fashion.  Above all else, I think we all can agree that whatever you're wearing, it should be comfortable.  The first outfit I shared was an effortless sweater dress and over-the-knee boots, which you can see here.  For the second outfit, I'm pulling a wardrobe re-wear and showing you how to pair thhem with a holiday sweater and leggings.

Confession--I love wearing leggings as pants and I do it unabashedly.  That said, I like to make sure that the material is thick and forgiving.  These VS Pink leggings fit the bill.  Keep an eye out on Black Friday because VS has had deals on Pink leggings for the last several Black Fridays. I also like to wear longer, more tunic-length tops.  I sized up in this holiday sweater to give it that feel. Oversized tops are really in right now.

Once again, I broke out my new OTK boots.  I love how tall and comfortable they are to wear. The zipper detail on the bag adds flair to any outfit, and dresses up the leggings.

And let's talk about this fabulous necklace from Designs by Ali Rose.  For the story behind it, check out last Friday's H54F post. Designs by Ali Rose is a local Kentucky vendor that I came across at the last Market (the next is coming up this weekend--click here for detail).  I love her jewelry, and the pieces clearly make awesome gifts:)

DETAILS
Sweater: American Eagle Outlet (I found mine in store on clearance for $17.50)
Leggings: Victoria's Secret Pink
Boots: Target
NecklaceDesigns by Ali Rose (local Kentucky designer!)
Earrings: Kate Spade (similar)
Purse: Louis Vuitton via Clothes Mentor Westerville

And as you're shopping this holiday season, don't forget to use Ebates! I use Ebates every time I shop online, and it's a legitimate website that gives you cash back for your purchases from some of my favorite stores, including Target and Old Navy. You even get some just for signing up!  You can join now by clicking here. They'll even have special cash back deals around Black Friday and throughout the holiday shopping season. Thanksgiving Day Outfit: Sweater Dress and OTK Boots

This post contains affiliate links.

When it comes to Thanksgiving Day style, I like to be stylish, cozy, and comfortable, so that I can take a nap on the couch at some point,  I don't want anything confining or fussy.  So this week, I'm sharing two Thanksgiving outfits that mean all of my requirements.  First up is this sweater dress and over-the-knee boots.

This dress is a great color for the season. While the color is called thundering gray, it definitely has a blue tint to it.  I selected this dress because the material is like a sweatshirt, and it's thick enough to keep you warm. I actually sized up so that I could get a little extra length.

With a dress like this, I like to either wear just a long necklace or to layer a long necklace with a short one.  I added the jeweled one for a little holiday bling.

And these boots. . .if you've been looking for a pair of OTK boots at an affordable price point, then your search is over!!!  My mom snagged these boots for me when they were 40% at Target a couple of weeks ago.  Now, while that deal is over, it's coming back for Black Friday (the dress will be 40% off too), so put them on your shopping list!

DETAILS
Dress: Target
Boots: Target
Necklaces: Ebay and Kendra Scott
Purse: Louis Vuitton via Clothes Mentor Westerville

And as you're shopping this holiday season, don't forget to use Ebates! I use Ebates every time I shop online, and it's a legitimate website that gives you cash back for your purchases from some of my favorite stores, including Target and Old Navy. High Five for Friday 11.13.15 : Shopping & Surprises

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Caitlin at Coffee with CaitlinDella at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!!!

This week's featured blogger is Annie from All Things Big and Small, a DIY lifestyle blog.  Annie is a SAHM and posts about the coolest projects.  Check out these instructions to make a DIY Fabric-Covered Headboard.  I also like this post about what's in her diaper bag.

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Friday was a good mail day. I won this "hello" sign from Brushing Our Way Through Life and The Golden Ostrich!!! Psst--I also love their "merry & bright" sign. The sign is very sturdy and well-made.  My new gameday blanket scarf also came in (GO STEELERS), and so did my Kendra Scott earrings (I exchanged the Lee for the Dani). Yay!

2. Thursday was a good mail day too! My birthday gift from Della arrived, and let me tell you what that sneaky so-and-so did.haha  She knew I was dying for this necklace from Designs by Ali Rose that I let slip away at the last Market 301. . .so she conspired with Ali to prevent me from purchasing the necklace.  When I opened the mail, it was like I hit the lottery. I mean, look at all these goodies!  There was also a UK charm for my Origami Owl necklace.  Thanks again, friend! And be sure to check out Ali's shop for all of the fashionistas on your Christmas list.  Or yourself. Whichever;) She is offering 15% off until December 24 with code christmas15.

3. Chauncey was off work on Thursday, so not only did he clean up my closet, which took a great feat to accomplish, but he also met me out for lunch.  We went to Malone's, which is one of my favorite places to eat.  It's not often we get to enjoy a meal by ourselves.  And although we talked about Kane most of the time, it was so nice to just connect.  The food was phenomenal, of course, and I was in a food coma the rest of the afternoon.

4. Christmas is like a month and a half away (eek!) and while I pick up gifts here and there all year, I hadn't really done any Christmas shopping.  So even though I was exhausted, I headed to the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass.  Chauncey watched Kane and let me have the day to knock out some gift buying.  I shopped til I dropped!  Kate Spade and Gap Factory had the best deals that day.  And did any of you all let this gorgeous watch pass you by last year when it was $225???  I loved it but wasn't paying that much.  I scored it on Saturday for $108:)

5. Who else is LOVING fall fashion and has already broken out the blanket scarves???  Here are two of my favorite outfits of the week.  If you are looking for super affordable blanket scarves, be sure to check AliExpress and Ebay!  Blanket scarves for less than $10?! Yes, please.  Both of the ones in this post came from AliExpress. Remember to follow along on Instagram for daily outfit inspiration.

How I Style It: Layering Plaids

Today I'm linking up with my blogging buddies for this month's installment of our "How I Style It" link-up!  This is a monthly linkup where we all get together to show you how we style our favorite fashion trends, and invite you to join us in showing off your passion for fashion as well! You can meet the hosts down below:)

Today is all about plaid.  Break out your favorite plaid(s), then grab the button and use the hashtag #plaidaboutit to join in on the fun!

I think we're all aware of how much I love plaid. . .that cat got outta the bag a lllooonngg time ago. Plaid is such a versatile pattern.  It can be worn alone or paired with another pattern, and it can be dressed up or dressed down. Here I chose to pop a brightly colored sweater over mine for the contrast, which gave it a color-block effect.  I'm loving plaids with lots of blues and greens it them this year.  While this one is currently sold out, I linked some other Old Navy options below, and I think that 2 of them are just $12!!!

I also had to pair my leopard flats with this outfit. Leopard is my favorite neutral pattern, and it just works well with plaids.  I've never met a plaid that didn't look good worn with a leopard print.  These two patterns are an effortless way to mix patterns and look put together!

Here's some other ways I've recently worked plaid into my wardrobe: vests,  another plaid shirt, a purse, and some buffalo plaid (here and here).

Burgundy + Navy Florals for Fall

This post includes affiliate links.  Also, the Lucky Peanut Jewelry necklace was sent to me in exchange for a review.  As always, all opinions are my own, and if I don't love a product or service, then they're not being featured on here.

Chauncey, Kane, and I headed downtown for dinner last night.  We hit up one of our favorite Lexington restaurants, Joe B's.  Now, Lex has a lot of new restaurants popping up, and we like those as well, but there's just nothing like the yummy breadsticks with garlic butter dipping sauce that you can get there.  And you may recognize this outfit--I wore it for my birthday (does that make it my birthday suit?haha) but didn't have time to photograph it that day.

I'm hardcore crushing on burgundy and navy shades for fall, so when I saw this pattern at Target I had to have it.  It's perfect for fall, but will also work for the other seasons as well. They had it in a dress and a tank, but I really like it in this crepe top.  It's lightweight and great for layering.  If you're a fan of the Elsa top from Lilly Pulitzer, then I think you'll like this.  It's a fraction of the price (currently on clearance for $24.99!).  I will caution that the material is a little thicker and it doesn't fit as loose as the same size would in Lilly.

Burgundy was also big last fall/winter.  These tuxedo flats are a holdover from them.  I snagged them for around $13 at the end of last winter.  My bag was picked up from the Michael Kors Outlet last fall. . .when I was there this weekend, they had a similar style but I didn't like it as much.

For the tiny details, my earrings are new releases from Purple Peridot.  My dainty drusy necklace is from Lucky Peanut Jewelry (closeup here), and my longer necklace is from Kendra Scott.  I have worn both of these necklaces so much since I got them, and they're both great for layering.

DETAILS
Jeans: JCP (similar, similar, similar)
Bag: Michael Kors Outlet (call outlet stores to check;
full price store but on sale-->same color but tote, different color but similar style)
Shoes: Target (similarsimilar
Earrings: Purple Peridot (use code PC10 for an extra 10% off)
Necklaces: Lucky Peanut Jewelry and Kendra Scott (similar)

I love how casual this look is because of the jeans, but how it's dressy enough for a casual day at the office or for a quick date night/birthday dinner:)  How are you incorporate navy, burgundy, and/or florals into your wardrobe this fall???

Bloggers, don't forget that Wednesday, 11/11 is our next How I Style It Linkup. We're talking all about plaid!

High Five for Friday 11.06.15 : Trick-or-Treat & Turning 29

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Caitlin at Coffee with CaitlinDella at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!!!

This week's featured blogger is Tiff from Terry's Go Round.  Tiff is a lifestyle blogger.  She's also a former TV reporter who just started her own photography business.  She takes some awesome pics (like these autumn ones)!  Her two kids had the most adorable Halloween costumes that were totally DIY.  She has some other fabulous tutorials and recipes too.

Let's recap this week's highlights:

1. We took Kane trick-or-treating.  He refused to wear a good portion of the dinosaur costume we got him, but he wore enough of it so that people got the idea of what he was.  One little girl petted the "cute dinosaur."  Now the craziness of guarding the Halloween candy starts.  I told him he comes have 1 piece.  Now he runs up to me with one finger held up saying, "One piece! One piece! One piece!"  Of course one is never enough.

2. Basketball season has started, and we were lucky enough to get some great seats to the UK exhibition game this week.  Kane and I met Jacque and Courtney, two new friends, for dinner at Saul Good before the game and then we all headed over to Rupp Arena.  The food was delicious, and Kane was reasonably well-behaved (parenting win)!!!

3. My co-workers threw me a surprise birthday party on Wednesday.  They're the best!  They even got me pizza without pizza sauce.  Now that's some love right there:) Oh, and I was at the office until 9 p.m. last night, so the leftovers were just as good.

4. Chauncey and Kane took me out to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner on my birthday, which is my favorite. YUMMY.  I got the ultimate red velvet cheesecake.  They also got me some sweet gifts: a nice digital picture frame uploaded with some of my favorite pics, the new Twilight book (judge away), and a new Kate Spade umbrella because my old IKEA one had broke.  Upgrade!!!

My birthday also including another trip to the doctor.  This week has been a health rollercoaster and I'm over it.  I just want to feel better!!!

5.  We finally got our TV mounted downstairs!!!  It looks great and I'm so glad to have that checked off the never-ending list of household to-dos.

And ICYMI this week, I wanted to share two posts!  First, if you're on the lookout for cute vests that are CHEAP, then I've done you a favor because I rounded up 6 adorable vests for great deals (2 are only $12 each!!!).  Second, to celebrate my birthday, I've teamed up with some blogging buddies to giveaway a pair of Kendra Scott earrings and a $105 Sephora gift card--you can enter to win here, and be sure to check out all of the other bloggers involved.  I love each and every one of their blogs!!!
