Tassels + Holograms for Spring

This post contains affiliate links.

OK, guys, I did it. . .I've thrown together all of my favorite spring trends into one post for you. Distressed denim is pretty much my go-to for weekends because while I love it, I can't wear it to work. For a Wardrobe Re-Wear of sorts, you can see other distressed denim looks here, here, and here. I like finding new ways to wear the same things, and distressed denim is no exception.

Three Brushes to Use to Extend Your Hairstyle

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GoodyBrushEd #CollectiveBias

As much as I'm on the go, I'm all about extending my hair style for as many days as possible--I usually go five (5!) days without washing my hair.  While I've talked before about my routine and the products I use to achieve 5-day hair, I neglected to talk about the brushes in my routine.

High Five for Friday 03.25.16: Pink Chair + Yummy Restaurants

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it! And happy Good Friday!  I hope that everyone has a great weekend and a wonderful Easter!!!

This week's featured blogger is Stephanie from Stephanie Spring, a beauty, food, and lifestyle blog. I love her recent soundtrack to life post (lots of good throwbacks) and her energy bites look yummy. She's also participating in a cool 30 day prayer challenge.

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. My pink chair came in on Friday!  Everyone needs a pink chair in their living room, right?!

When Your Child Hates the Easter Bunny

It's official: Kane hates the Easter bunny.  Seriously.  See that dinosaur by the Easter Bunny's foot in the picture above? Kane almost wouldn't even retrieve it. . . and you know how Kane loves his dinosaurs (those feelings are directly inverse to his feelings about the Easter Bunny). Both of these pics are classic Kane when it comes to holiday photos.  You can see other disasters here and here.  So what's a mom to do when her child hates the Easter Bunny?

$10 at Target : Either/or Edition

It's time for this month's $10 at Target!  Now, you all know I can never do just one round of $10 at Target, so today I'm brining you an either/or edition.

Either: First up, for my fashionistas, are my tee and tassel finds.  When it comes to tees, I'm loving an oversized fit for spring, so I sized up in this Merona tee that I found on major sale.  The bright color is a perfect spring pick-me-up that I'll be wearing this summer as well.  And the tassel fobs are just too cute.  They're a designer dupe that you can pick up for just $5. The tassels are another either/or, since you couldn't buy all 3 items for $10, but I wanted to show you both colors. These are adorable either as a keychain or attached to your favorite bag!

High Five for Friday 03.18.16 : Date Night + Shopping

***Please note, we had a slight hiccup with the linkup this morning because Inlinkz had kicked it forward an hour (I'm assuming because of the time change last weekend?).  Anyways, the linkup is now live, and will continue to be live at 8 a.m. EST.***

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Katie at Preppy Empty Nester, a lifestyle blog.  She lives in Massachusetts in a beautiful home built in 1895 (love historical homes!), and her children have left home but she has two adorable dogs.  She's sharing some great Easter finds today.  I was also cracking up reading her short hair dilemma.

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Friday night was Parent's Night Out at daycare.  I picked Kane up before it started, and took him to Walmart and let him pick out a couple of little toys before I had to take him back.  Once I dropped him off, Chauncey and I headed out to dinner at Malone's.  I had almost forgotten what it's like to linger over a meal.haha It was so nice to have a date night.  We also hit up Target and a few other places before picking Kane back up.

High Five for Friday 03.11.16: Haircuts + Disney on Ice

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Justine from Full Hands Full Heart, a lifestyle blog.  Justine has four kids, with another one on the way.  She just did an adorable dresser makeover for her son's room.  I also loved her post about weekly Walmart finds, which was an Easter basket edition.  So many good finds!

Now, let's recap this week's highlights:

1. I was in eastern Kentucky last weekend.  It was awesome to spend time with family.  Della and I had a hair appointment with my hair lady, Ginger, on Friday night.  Ginger is a master when it comes to color.  I'm starting to put in some peek-through highlights for spring.  There's nothing to make you feel more refreshed than an appoint with your hair stylist!!!

How to Save Money on Makeup

Portions of this post first appeared as an end-note of sorts for a two-part series on When to Save and When to Splurge on Makeup, but it has been revamped and updated for this post.  You can view Part 1 of that post here and Part 2 here.

Ever since I was a little girl who first figured out what makeup was, I was obsessed with it.  I used to get into my mom's makeup and ruin it (sorry, Mom), and as I got older, I'd make trips to my local Rite-Aid on Friday nights to buy my own.  When I was in college, I started switching from drugstore cosmetic brands to beauty counter brands.  Then, towards the end of law school, I started to switch back.  Now, I still enjoy buying both cheaper and more high-end cosmetics, depending on the product, but the constant is that I like to save money on whatever makeup I'm buying.  Here are my tips for putting more makeup in your makeup bag with your dollars.

Weekend Style for Spring: Sweatshirt + Distressed Denim

This post contains affiliate links.

This past weekend was all about taking it easy.  My life stays pretty hectic between working full time, blogging, being a mom, being a wife, and living life, so I really appreciate a low key weekend that gives me a chance to unwind.  Kane and I headed home to eastern Kentucky for the weekend. Did you notice anything different about my hair?! While there, Della and I had got our hair done by my hair stylist, Ginger (love her!).  I got a much needed trim and color change.  Ginger darkened the base color slightly for a little more intensity, and wove some highlights underneath the top layer.  Head over to Della's blog to check out her new cut and color, and see a bright outfit that's perfect for spring:)  By the way, she shot these photos--thanks, friend!

High Five for Friday 03.04.16: Lilly Pulitzer Reveal

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the link-up and the weekend.  We made it!  We just wanted to let you all know that Caitlin at Coffee with Caitlin will be stepping away from blogging for a little bit.  We'll especially miss our friend joining us to co-host H54F.

This week's featured blogger is Emily from Simply a Rough Draft, a lifestyle blog where Emily shares about faith, family, food, and friends.  I love this recent interview she did with her 2 year old and 4 year old about movie quotes--it's hilarious! Also, her recent post on counting your blessings really resonated with me.

1. OMG, you guys, Saturday was the Lilly Pulitzer reveal at my favorite resale shop, Clothes Mentor in Lexington.  They had been hoarding all of their Lilly buys over the winter and had a huge reveal.  Jacque and I were there a little before 9 a.m. and were 1st in line.  It was cold, but it was totally worth our dedication!!! We had a game plan and it so worked!  I laid hands on a pair of Let's Cha Cha shorts for Jacque, and she laid hands on 2 Elsa. . .one for each of us (now, for my fellow Lilly lovers, you know you're good friends when you'll do that for each other!).  I ended up with an Elsa, a Leona, a Skipper Popover, a cardigan, and a Lilly for Target Nosey Posie tank!!!!  In Jacque's words, we were rock stars.hahaha

Relaxed Southern Style

This post contains affiliate links.  Furthermore, the tee and necklace were sent to me by Darling South.  As usual, though, all opinions are my own.

If you read last week's H54F post, then you know that I got in some new items from Darling South. Darling South is a sister company to Kentucky Brewed Tees, and the tees are actually handprinted by KBT!  Darling South has such cute southern style pieces. Two items I absolutely adore from my box of goodies are this "Mind Your Own Biscuits" tee and the Designs by Ali Rose antler necklace (styled with a dressier look here).
