High Five for Friday 10.28.16 : Pizza + Plaids

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Lisa from Coast to Coast, a hospitality, style, and DIY blog. Be sure to check out her easy ghost cookies recipe.  Or if you love all things pumpkin, try her perfect fall breakfast recipe. And she sells Rodan + Fields too!

FYI, today kicks off my last week in my twenties!!!! Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. On Saturday, I drove home to eastern Kentucky. We went straight to a baby shower. Afterwards, Della and I met up to take pictures, then we took the boys to dinner at Pizza Stop. It was fun to catch up! I love how beautiful it is back home right now. The hills are painted stunning colors by the changing leaves!

2. Kane and I went to a birthday party on Friday night, followed by a joint birthday party on Sunday night.  Kane had the best time at both parties, and I had fun too:)  How is it, though, that kids have so much energy? One of the parties was held at a bounce house, and Kane made me wallow around on all the bouncies.

3. When we got back to Lexington on Monday night, Chauncey, Kane, and I headed out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, JDI.  I got some yummy chicken garlic pasta dish that Chauncey had gotten previously and it was soooo good. Plus I had enough for leftovers:)

4. I ordered all the plaids from Old Navy.  Seriously--all the plaids. There's two of one shirt because I reordered it to get a cheaper price:)

5. I'm collaborating with J. Galt Eyewear on some projects, and I got to pick up my new eyeglasses this week!  I am in love with them!  I have a full post coming in the next couple of weeks detailing my experience, but if you following along on Snapchat (brightonabudget) or watch Instagram Stories, then you got a peek at my new frames.

ICYMI, here's this week's posts:

How to Wear a Utility Jacket

This post contains affiliate links.

Utility jackets are such a fun piece to wear, but I think they can seem awkward first.  When I first saw them last year, I wondered what I would wear with one. They're definitely a menswear-inspired piece.

I love her post from today about having her first key framed.  I also like how she styled her utility jacket here. And you can meet her adorable family in her post about their recent fall family hike.

Disclaimer about this week's post: I have a yucky cold, I had to switch to an iPhone (which I hate), and I left my Note 7 with all my pictures on it at the office yesterday. That said, this post is what it is.lol  Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. We went out with a big group of friend's to celebrate Chauncey's birthday on Saturday night.  We hit up several places downtown.  We also got to stop by our friends' new bar, West Main Crafting Co., that's currently being renovated. If you follow along on Snapchat, this is the place I was showing a sneak peek of on Saturday night. It should be open in early December, so Lex friends be sure to check it out!  Afterwards, we headed back to a friend's house.  Chauncey and I didn't get home until like 4 a.m., but it was a blast!

First, I just wanted to let you know that I'm posting about the Top 6 Fall Trends over on my friend Mandy's blog, Musings of a Shopaholic Mama. You'll love Mandy's style, so be sure to check it out!

I love holiday-inspired fashion!!! Seriously. Fashion is supposed to be fun, and what's more fun than drawing inspiration from upcoming holidays?  Thus, when LuLaRoe released their Halloween capsule collections for halloween leggings, I knew I had to have a pair! Which turned out not to be an easy feat. Thanks to LuLaRoe Heather Desdamona, though, I was able to snag a pair.

High Five for Friday 10.07.16--Family Time + Halloween Things

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

We're praying for all of those in the path of Hurricane Matthew.  I hope those of you who are stay safe!

This week's featured blogger is Shelby from Life as The Coats, a lifestyle blog. Shelby is a newlywed from Tennessee.  She just posted her Christmas Binder with free printables! She also offers a fun snapshot into her life with her most recent currently post. And they just got a puppy.

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Kane and I went out for a mother-son date on Friday night.  We stopped by the jewelry store to have my rings checked for my warranties, and grabbed pizza at one of our favorite local pizza places that's in Richmond called Gillum's Sports Lounge. Then we finished up by stopping by Target on the way home. I'm happy to say Kane loves Target as much as I do!

2. On Saturday morning, we headed home to eastern Kentucky. Chauncey ended up being sick the whole weekend:( That said, Saturday and Sunday were very relaxing, as we got to just hang out with family. It was nice.

3. Monday we went out to Chuy's. Y'all know Chuy's is one of my favorites--we usually eat there once a week. It was a great way to start the week. I also wore a cute fall outfit that I just threw together.

4. I'm back on Weight Watchers. I tried to get on the WW bandwagon earlier in the year, but then I got mono and things went downhill. It's hard to do much of anything when you're sick with mono:( Wish me luck this time around!

5. I'm loving that it's finally October and all the Halloween things are out/okay to finally fully embrace. I stopped by Walmart one night this week and grabbed two pairs of Halloween leggings, some Halloween pajamas for Kane, and a new Paw Patrol Halloween book for him as well. FYI, the Halloween leggings at walmart were $4 and $6 each. And my Lularoe Halloween leggings came in, which I'll be styling for the blog soon. Yes, I now own three pairs of Halloween leggings, and I'm not mad about it.haha

No Budge, Long-Lasting Lipstick from LipSense

Confession: I didn't consistently wear lipstick until after I started blogging. Then I started wearing it, because it pulls your whole makeup look together.  I was still left feel frustrated, however, when my lip color wouldn't stay in place.  One time, when we were on vacation in Charleston, I looked like a clown because the lip color smudged all around my lips and wouldn't come off (not a good look for me or anyone else). So I was really excited to find LipSense

Go-To Fall Favorites Outfit

This post contains affiliate links. The bangles are c/o KCK Bangles, but all opinions, as always, are my own.

This is what happens when you throw all of your favorite pieces for fall into one outfit:) I've had several of these pieces that I snagged on major sale over the past several months that I've been waiting to share with you. Otherwise, I would've had a heatstroke trying to wear them. But the wait is over!
