High Five for Friday 04.28.17: Authors in the Bluegrass + Vacation Plans

TGIF!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, Becky from BYBMG, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it! High Five for Friday is where we come together to share five highlights from the past week each Friday.

1. The Authors in the Bluegrass event was held on Friday and Saturday. Um, total fangirl here! I got to meet some of my favorite authors, including Abbi Glines, Jillian Dodd, Alessandra Torre, and Kathleen Brooks (shoutout for the KY author)! It was surreal to get to hangout with these ladies. And I got to work Abbi Glines' table, which made my day! Nicole from What Nicole Wore and I volunteered at the vent, along with my friend Ashley. It was exhausting but worth it!

2. Sunday was a day to R E L A X. I laid in bed most of the day. I napped and skipped taking blog pics, but we did head out to Malone's for a yummy dinner! Nothing like a hamburger and fries to perk you right up.

3. VACATION IS BOOKED! I repeat, vacation is booked! For our first vacation this year, we're heading to Charleston, SC in June to Folly Beach:)  I'm so excited! And Kane is going along with us this year.

4. The weather has been GORGEOUS in Kentucky!  We had a little rain, but for the most part, this week was warm and sunny.  Keep it coming, Kentucky:)

5. Last night, I met up with @lexeats, @hartleysocial, @bronwynbutler, and @ to checkout the first look at The Summit at Fritz Farm. The stores are so quaint, and the parking situation is not as dire as I thought it would be. Edley's BBQ was yummy!

ICYMI, here's this week's posts:

Ruffled One Shoulder Top

This post contains affiliate links.

Last summer was all about the off-the-shoulder ("OTS") trend. Now, while that's still going strong, this summer is going to be all about the one shoulder trend.  This trend has been around before, but it's been awhile. And ruffles. Lots and lots of ruffles.

Athleisure Lace-Up Legging + Sneakers

Thanks to Persnickety Jane for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own, as always. Also, this post contains affiliate links.

Confession: I used to hate leggings as pants.  I don't know what was wrong with me!haha Now not only do I love leggings as pants, but I'm also totally on board with the athleisure trend.  The athleisure trend is sporty and comfortable, but also looks put-together and chic.

High Five for Friday 04.14.17: Girls' Day + Other Things

This post contains affiliate links.

HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY + HAPPY EASTER!!!

TGIF!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, Becky from BYBMG, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it! High Five for Friday is where we come together to share five highlights from the past week each Friday.

1. On Saturday, Nicole from What Nicole Wore and I had a girls' day at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass to shop for our event that is tomorrow.  We shopped until we dropped, hitting up Kate Spade, Saks Off 5th, J. Crew Factory, and tons of other stores.  In between stores, we grabbed cookies and also had lunch at Johnny Rockets. If you shop in the central Kentucky area, be sure to enter our giveaway for a $250 giftcard here.

Our event will start at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass at 11 a.m. tomorrow. They will unveil their new art installations, and Nicole and I will give a trend talk. A family festival will immediately follow. We'd love to see you there--stop by and say hi if you attend!!!

2. We took Kane to see the Easter Bunny this weekend at Lexington Green.  Kane has never been a fan of the Easter Bunny.  But this year he said he was going to sit on the EB's lap. We even saw the EB at Walmart earlier in the day and Kane was cool with it.  Well, when we went to take our pics, Kane would NOT sit anywhere near him.haha So we have a picture with the EB! You can see those here.

3. Victoria Beckham's collaboration with Target released this week. It's super cute--I highly recommend checking out the dresses, especially this one.

4. On Monday night, I was able to go get my nails done with my friend Melissa.  My SNS color is now a pretty Easter shade of blue.

5. Last night, I got to meet another local blogger, Allison from Brooks Style. We grabbed dinner at Malone's.  I always love meeting up with other local bloggers:)

ICYMI, here's this week's post:

This week's featured blogger is Amy from Love, Amy Cotton, a lifestyle blog. Amy used to teach elementary school, but is now a homemaker and blogger.  If you're interested in food delivery service, checkout her review of one service. There's always an event going on in the spring--Easter Sunday, Keeneland, the Kentucky Derby, and Mother's Day, just to name a few. While I was outlet shopping at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass with Nicole from What Nicole Wore this weekend, I found the quintessential spring dress that will work for any or all of these events! Battle of the Bunnies: The Easter Bunny at Lexington Green 2017

Since Kane was born, we've worked to build holiday traditions for our family.  One of our Easter traditions is that each year, we go see the Easter Bunny at Lexington Green.  We started this tradition when Kane was 9 months old, and have been back every year since.  The great thing about Lexington Green is that they have two bunnies--the Easter Bunny and a live bunny!

Easter is right around the corner. I always love getting a new dress for Easter each year. It's been a tradition for me since I was a little girl. High Five for Friday 03.31.17: New Shoes and Good Books

This post contains affiliate links.

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

Here's this week's highlights:

1. We kicked off last weekend with two birthday parties--one on Friday night and one on Saturday afternoon.  Kane had such a good time playing with friends, and it was nice to get to see our  friends as well:)

2. After the party on Saturday afternoon, we shot blog pictures and then grabbed dinner on the patio at Palmer's Fresh Grill.  It's beside a little lake, and we could watch the ducks swimming around while we ate. Kane was cracking us up--he asked for broccoli and was dipping it in ketchup--eewww!!!

3. Last night, I saw an ad for the shoes above and just had to go buy them.  The floral pair are flats and the purple pair are heels, but you can get either color in the heels or flats. The heel version is just $13.50 and the flats are $12 when you use code 251564572 for an additional 25% off their sale price! You can shop them here.

4. I read lots of books this week.  Here's some of what I read: I finally brung myself to read Molly McAdams's Blackbird, which was different but turned out really good! I read an old favorite, Warrior Woman by Johanna Lindsey, along with Beach Wedding by Natasha Boyd.  And I read The Hard Way by Katie Ashley and Sex by Jillian Dodd--love these authors and they're going to be at the Authors of the Bluegrass event on April 22. Tickets will be available at the door--I'm volunteering the event, so I hope to see you there!

5. After a week of not sleeping well, I finally got a good night's sleep last night. It felt amazing!!!

Stay turned for an exciting H54F announcement next week!

The 80's Trend You NEVER Thought Would Return

This post contains affiliate links.

Ok, of all the fashion trends that have come and gone over the years, there's one that I've made more jokes about than any other--acid wash jeans.  As a late-80's baby, I remember them from my childhood. My mom totally rocked them, and truth be told, I probably did too.haha  Of all the trends I never saw making a comeback, acid wash jeans were at the top of the list. Well, brace yourself, because acid wash jeans are making a return!!!

High Five for Friday 03.24.17: Blogger Buddies

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

1. One of my good friends from law school had a baby shower on Saturday.  It was a lovely event and so nice to see my friends that I hadn't seen in a while. Afterwards, I stopped by the nail salon for a fresh SNS set.

2. On Sunday, I had a blogger brunch--thanks to Leela of Lex Eats for hosting us!  Mariah from Like Honey was in town, so I picked her up on the way to brunch.  It was such a good time!

3. Rynetta from J.Crew is My Fav Store and I have been trying to get together for dinner, and we finally made it happen!  We met up at Shakespeare & Co., which is a whimsical restaurant with storybook-like menus.  The food was amazing and the conversation was even better.

4. I needed to run to the mall to try on some clothes for an upcoming collab, so I promised Kane a trip to Build-a-Bear. They had just released Power Ranger bears, which I thought Kane would love. No, he wanted a dragon, so he picked out Hookfang.  He had such a good time making his dragon and giving it a bath before we left.

5. Last night, I headed out to TSG Lexington's Spring Fling. I had no idea what to expect from the event and was flying solo, but it turned out to be so much fun.  I ended up seeing the girls from Hartley Social and Kayla from Kayla Weber Art:)

ICYMI, here's this week's post:
