Unexpected Color Mix for Transitioning to Spring

This post contains affiliate links. My @BiteBeauty lipstick and #The Lip Pencil were free from @Influenster. #contest.

We got some more snow last night and I'm sooo excited!  Who else loves snow?! These pictures were shot on Saturday before the snow, and I wore this outfit to dinner at Malone's afterwards. Even though it is still freezing cold, I'm starting to add pops of bright colors to my outfits to begin the transition towards spring.

High Five for Friday 01.27.17: Organization + Dinosaurs

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Lindsay from Bourbon, Lipstick, and Stilettos (yes, she's clearly a fan of the serial comma like me). Lindsay is awesome!  She's from Kentucky--we've actually had lunch together and she's just as cool in real life as she seems on her blog!  Her full-time job is as a technical writer. I love her most recent post about what to do instead of arguing on Facebook.  And she has some awesome suggestions for lipsticks for Valentine's Day!

Blazer, Oversized Tee, and Jeans

This post contains affiliate links.

This outfit combines all of my favorite things right now--plaid, navy, burgundy, oversized tees, and velvet! And I love this plaid blazer! I had first spotted this blazer at Target last fall.  It finally found it's way to the clearance rack recently, and I pounced on it.

How to Wear the Athleisure Trend

This post contains affiliate links.

The athleisure trend is BIG for this year.  So what does athleisure mean anyways? Athleisure is the term for when you wear sporty styles for everyday looks. I love this trend because it's comfortable but still put together.

High Five for Friday 01.13.17: Snow + an Anniversary

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Amanda from Cupcake N Dreams is a lifestyle blog that also has fun travel posts.  Her post about a weekend getaway to Geneva, Switzerland really gets my travel bug to itching. And her list of must-have travel essentials is spot-on!

Now, let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Chauncey and I celebrated our 14 year dating anniversary! Other than him leaving all of my clothes behind in Lexington, it went pretty well.haha We actually headed home that morning and ended up having dinner at one of my favorite restaurants back home.  It was a cold night and we were seated right by the fire!

2. Kane got to play in snow and loved it!  He even took his dinosaurs out to play in it.  We threw some snowballs too.  I absolutely adore the picture of him above that my mom took.

3. When we got back to Lexington on Sunday, we had to run out and shoot blog pics. Afterwards, we grabbed dinner at Goodfellas Distillery.  We love Goodfellas Pizza, and they just opened a restaurant and bar in the Distillery District here in Lexington.  The atmosphere of the new place is stellar!

4. I survived Week 1 of Weight Watchers.

5. I tackled a huge pile of clean laundry and got it all hung up or folder.  I felt like super woman by the time I was finished. Laundry is such a necessary evil.

Also, I'd appreciate your prayers for Kane.  Kane has to have eye surgery on his good eye in the new few months--the muscle is pulling that eye up and causing major vision problems. In preparation for surgery, Kane will be patching the good eye for 2 hours per day until his surgery to try to build strength in the other eye.  If you've had any experience with patching, I'd love to hear about your experience and any other tips or tricks you may have!

And I'm having an online LipSense party through tomorrow! You can join in the fun here and find out what it's all about!!! Warning--it's pretty amazing:)

Hunter Boots for Winter

This post contains affiliate links.

Did any of you catch Monday's post about my clothing ordeal this past weekend? If not, you can get caught up to speed here.  So this is the only outfit I had with me--luckily I wore it while traveling. I'm just glad I dressed decent while traveling because Chauncey and I went out on a date night later in the evening to celebrate our 14 year dating anniversary.

Erin Condren Planner Review

This post contains affiliate links.

One of my goals for 2017 is to be more organized.  The best way for me to organize my daily life is through a paper planner.  If I set a reminder on my phone or schedule appointments on my online calendar, then I just ignore it or it gets lost in my jumble of other notifications. And there's something about the act of writing it down that helps me to see the overall picture more clearly.  After much thought and consideration, I decided to go with the Erin Condren Lifeplanner.

LuLaRoe Madison Skirt for Winter

This post contains affiliate links.

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you're weekend was fabulous!  As you can see, we got some snow in my neck of the woods. We had an interesting weekend to say the least.  I was supposed to shoot these pics while we were back home in eastern Kentucky on Saturday, but Chauncey left my bag in Lexington. Which means I had Z E R O clothes other than the ones I wore to travel.haha

High Five for Friday 01.06.17: The New Year

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Shelly from The Queen in Between, a life and style blog. Shelly is a blogging buddy of mine, and I love her blog!   You can jump right in and get to know her with this post giving an introduction about herself and her favorite life, travel, and style posts of 2016.  She also kills it in the style department, and I love this outfit here! If you're on Snapchat, give her a follow (queeninbetween1).

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. On New Year's Eve, I started the day by going to an engagement party for a friend who I hadn't seen in forever.  Then I ran errands before we went to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory--sooo yummy! I'm become addicted to their 30th Anniversary cheesecake, and Kane has too. I wanted to eat one last really good meal before getting on the diet train.  We ended the evening by watching the ball drop and I got kisses from my boys at midnight:)

2. OK, I kicked New Year's Day off with a little shopping at Dillard's New Year's Day sale.  They had an extra 50% off of all clearance--such good deals!  I also shot two blog posts and had dinner at Joe B's with Chauncey and Kane. If nothing else, we ate well last weekend.haha

3. Kane and I went over to some good friends' house on Wednesday.  It's always nice to catch up, and Kane was so excited to go to his friend Peyton's house.

4. We finally got snow yesterday!!!!  It looks so pretty outside with everything covered in white.  I'm like a kid when it comes to snow--I LOVE IT!

5.  It's been a BIG blogging week!!!  I was FINALLY accepted to the RewardStyle/LIKEtoKNOW.it platform.  This means that you can now shop my everyday looks that I post on Instagram--just sign up for LIKEtoKNOW.it, and then like my pictures on Instagram.  You have the option to receive the details via email or by just signing into your LIKEtoKNOW.it.

Lantern Sleeves for Work

I hope that everyone had a safe and fun time ringing in the New Year!  If you follow along on Snapchat (@brightonabudget) or Instagram, then you know that we were on the couch in our pajamas to watch the ball drop.  OK, and Kane and I may have annoyed Chauncey with some NYE noisemakers we found at the dollar spot at Target.haha
