The #1 Trend for Spring

This post contains affiliate links.

The #1 trend for spring is ruffles. Ruffles are everywhere you look!  I've seen them on necklines, hemlines, sleeves, and everything in between--not that I'm complaining.  Ruffles lend a romantic look to any outfit.

5 Tips for Stress-Free Travel

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MoreMomentsWithExcedrin #CollectiveBias

I travel frequently.  Mostly, it's just short roadtrips, but travel can be very stressful. I've learned that the more prepared I am for the trip, the less stressed I am about traveling. Traveling is supposed to be fun, not stressful!  Here are five easy tips for stress-free travel.

Tip 1: Do your research.
If you're going somewhere you've never been before, DO YOUR RESEARCH.  Being informed is key to stress-free travel.  Research where you're going and where you're staying.  Are there any special considerations you should make or any travel advisories of which you should be aware? Keep a check on the weather beginning ten days out, so you have a heads-up of any inclement weather and know how to dress.

Tip 2: For big trips, get travel insurance.
One of the biggest stress inducers for traveling is worrying about what could happen.  So I like to be prepared by purchasing travel insurance when going on a big trip.  You can purchase travel insurance through either a company that specifically sells travel insurance or through your travel agent if you have one.  Travel insurance can be really expensive when purchased like that, though, so I actually book my trips on a credit card that provides travel insurance as one of its perks!  If you have a credit card, call customer service to see if you have a travel insurance benefit and, if so, what are its terms and conditions.

Tip 3: Keep a packing list in your planner.
For all of your trips, you will need the same essentials.  Make a list of those and keep your packing list in your planner.  Add to that list as needed.  That way, you don't have to stress out about what to pack and whether you're forgetting something.  You can even make copies of the list so that you can check things off as you go every single time. Remember to list important things like glasses, prescriptions, and your computer--things that would be difficult to just go out and purchase if you left them behind.

Tip 4: Carry multiple forms of payment in separate locations.

Being on a trip with no cash would be terrible, especially if you were to lose your purse or wallet, or have them stolen.  I've even had instances where my credit card was declined because I was traveling out of state. So take a couple of cards, or a card and some cash, and stash them in separate places.  If you're traveling with your significant other, make sure you each have at least one form of payment. That way you will hopefully be okay if you were to lose your bag or have it stolen.

Tip 5: Keep a toiletry bag filled with all the important things that you can grab and go.
It can be so annoying trying to round up all of the toiletries you need. I like to keep a toiletry bag packed so that I can grab it and go, knowing that everything I need is in there.  Things I like to keep packed are 3 oz. bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, shower gel, shave lotion, and contact solution, along with a contact case, razor, toothbrush, travel toothpaste, and Excedrin®.

I always like to carry something for headaches because both Chauncey and I tend to get headaches when we travel, which can ruin a trip.  My headaches tend to strike in the evening around bedtime, while Chauncey is prone to migraines.  So I pack both Excedrin® PM Headache for myself and Excedrin® Migraine for him. Excedrin® saves the day because it seems that someone always gets a headache.  When we were in Vegas over the Thanksgiving holiday last year, I had a killer headache.  But because I was prepared, I was able to relieve my headache and was fine.

Excedrin® PM Headache provides night time headache relief to help you sleep, as it contains two pain fighters plus a sleep aid.  Excedrin® Migraine starts to relieve migraine pain in 30 minutes, and is the #1 Neurologist Recommended* over-the-counter medicine for migraines.* Be sure to consult with your doctor first if you think you are suffering from migraines. Also, only use the products as directed and see the Excedrin Warnings of Usage for all product claims, and you may not use the products if you are under 18 or pregnant.
*Among OTC medicine for migraines. Symphony Health Solutions, 2016

You can pickup Excedrin® in the Pain Reliever aisle at your local Walmart. You can checkout how others are having more moments with Excedrin® here.

High Five for Friday 02.24.17: Lost and Found + Legos

This post contains affiliate links.

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Candice from She's Leaning In. Candice is a Minnesota girl living in Southern California.  She works in project management for a hospital. For new moms, I love her series on tackling the baby registry. And she shared her recent Rocksbox jewelry here--I love the Rocksbox service and it's always fun looking at what other people get!

You can shop this outfit here

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Chauncey was off work on Friday and Monday, so we grabbed lunch at Malone's on Friday. We used to work on the same side of town and would grab lunch all the time.  Now we work on opposite sides of town and we rarely get to grab lunch.  It was nice to have a little date!

2. We watching the Lego Movie on Saturday, and Kane was in love!  We had avoided Legos up to this point, but I went out on Sunday and bought him a Legos Junior kit.  I put all of it together and it was all torn apart by last night.haha

3. I read two new book releases this week--Roman by Sawyer Bennett and Royally Matched by Emma Chase.  I recommend them both if you like a good romance read!

4. Um, is anyone else terrible at losing things? This week I lost my NEW favorite sunglasses, a set of earrings, and a necklace. I really have to think back to the last time I was wearing them and think back through my thoughts of what I was doing that day.  Anyways, I located the Sunglasses on Wednesday and the jewelry last night! I was relieved!

5. One of my friends was in town to take the bar exam this week, and we were able to grab dinner. It's always nice to have a girls night and catchup!

Go-To Weekend Uniform

This post contains affiliate links.

When it comes to the weekend, I'm all about casual but cute outfits.  I look for stretchy, soft fabrics that I can throw on some fun accessories with if I decide to venture out of the house.  My weekend outfits usually involve leggings, because we all know that leggings are officially pants now:)

Spring Outfit for the Office

This post contains affiliate links.

Spring is in the air in Kentucky!  I'm so ready to shed the heavy layers of winter clothes.  What's in the spring fashion forecast? When it comes to spring clothes, I've loving anything in blush and light neutrals.  Peplum tops are here to stay for spring, and you'll be seeing a lot of wider silhouettes when it comes to pant legs. I threw all of those trends together to create this wear to work look that will take you straight into happy hour!!!

When You're No Longer Twenty-Something

A few months ago, I turned 30. T h i r t y. The birthday that seems far off in the stratosphere until all of a sudden you're turning 29, and then it's a quickly approaching asteroid hurtling right at you.

High Five for Friday 02.10.17: Low Key Week

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Tara from Michael and Tara, a lifestyle blog.  She's a wife, mom to several little girls, and a photographer. Tara actually has a birthday this week, so happy birthday!!! She has some awesome mantras for this year.  I'm jealous of their first snow of the year (Snow, if you're reading this, please come to KY soon).

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. Kane and I headed back to eastern Kentucky last weekend. There's just something about going home that's good for the soul.  I loved getting to see my family and relaxing. I also saw Della, which is always fun!

2. Can we talk about how Lady Gaga killed it at the Super Bowl?!  Not only was did she deliver an amazing performance, but she was stunning in her outfits!  I love the fact that she didn't feel like she had to be super toned to wear them (which is totally while I rock a bikini every summer).  And I loved her response to all the bodyshamers!!!

3. On Tuesday, I grabbed lunch with my friend Laurel from law school.  The only thing I miss about law school is getting to see my friends every day. Law school is such a miserable experience, so you forge some amazing friendships to make it through:)

4. It was a good mail week!  Don't you just love when a flood of packages arrive? I received my items from Charming Charlie that I styled on the blog this week, my items from the new Sugarfix item at Target, and a LuLaRoe top I won.

5. I actually have all of my Valentine's Day shopping done, even down to the cards! I'm always so last minute pulling things together, so I'm excited to have my act together for once.hahaha

ICYMI, here's this week's posts:

Cold Shoulder Dress for Valentine's Day

Thanks to Charming Charlie for sponsoring this post. All opinions, as always, are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Charming Charlie is one of my favorite stores to shop at when I'm looking for something for holidays or in a specific color!  They have tons of accessories and some cute clothes that are all sorted by color. It makes it so easy to go to their website and find what you're looking for. Everything is also sorted by color in-store too, which is great due to the amount of items they carry. Plus, they have the most darling Valentine's Day pieces right now!

High Five for Friday 02.03.17: Snow + a New Show Addiction

TGIF, H54F-ers!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!

This week's featured blogger is Brenda from Chatting Over Chocolate, a lifestyle/Disney blog. Brenda is a longtime H54F regular and such a sweet friend!  She is such a ray of sunshine:)  Brenda gives trip reports of her visits to the parks and surrounding areas.  And this year, she's doing throwback posts from earlier in her blogging journey, like this one called, "Thank God for Dirty Dishes."

Now let's recap this week's highlights:

1. We finally got a little bit of snow!  As soon as I opened the garage door, Kane darted out to go run around in it. He was running around like crazy, trying to catch snowflakes.  And it's a good thing he did, because it was all melted by the time we got home that evening:(

2. On Saturday, we shot blog pictures and then grabbed dinner at Malone's.  Malone's is one of my favorite places to eat, and if you're even in Lexington, you should try it out. Their food is utterly delicious.

3. Daycare had a storytime night on Monday evening. Kane had such a great time. The kids went from room-to-room, with each room having a different story and accompanying activity.

4. As most of you know, I went to law school at UK Law. As part of the new Heyburn Initiative, they had Chief Justice Roberts from SCOTUS to speak on Wednesday.  I was lucky enough to get to go and it was amazing!  He was entertaining--he had all the jokes.  This makes the fourth SCOTUS justice I've had the opportunity to hear speak. I love that I live in a college town where events like this happen.

5. Chauncey and I just finished Season 1 of Westworld last night.  It's so interesting!!!! Have any of you watched it? If so, what do you think? I am more of a fan than Chauncey.  There's a detail that Chauncey got hung up on that he had a hard time getting over (which I thought was silly, because the storyline is set a certain way for a reason).

Thanks to Uncommon Goods for sponsoring this post.  All opinions, as always, are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Valentine's Day is just under two weeks away!  Chauncey is always so hard to buy for, because if he wants something, he just goes and buys it himself (I'm the same way). So I was thankful to come across Uncommon Goods, a website that specializes in fun, unique items that make the perfect gifts! They have a huge selection in a wide range of prices.  Here are some of my favorite finds if you too have a hard-to-buy-for guy:
